The Yapp Charitable Trust makes small grants, for running costs and salaries, to small registered charities in England and Wales to help sustain their existing work.
The Trustees decided to concentrate on sustaining existing work, after we asked our applicants what type of funding they found most difficult to raise. Most people said the biggest problem is finding money to keep work going once it can no longer be described as new, even though it is effective and is still needed. As a small grant-maker we cannot do everything, so we concentrate on sustaining work that has proved its worth. We make a grant when other funding is coming to an end.
If you are looking for money to start a new project, to create a new paid post or to introduce extra services you should look elsewhere. Many other funders prefer to fund new developments.
We are a registered charity, number 1076803.
The Trust is named after our founder William Johnston Yapp, who died in 1946 in Sussex. He left almost everything he owned to be used for charitable purposes, including his house and garden, which is still a public park in Haywards Heath. Originally two charitable Trusts were set up which operated as The Yapp Welfare Trust and The Yapp Education and Research Trust until September 1999, when they were combined into The Yapp Charitable Trust.

The Trustees continue Mr Yapp's interest in the advancement of knowledge by commissioning
