Application Process

We have a simple application form which we ask you to send in by post, together with a copy of your most recent annual report and accounts and any other information you wish to send.

Applications are processed continuously.    When we receive your application we will be in touch, usually within 2 weeks -

The time it takes to process an application and make a grant is usually between two months and six months.  We always write to let you know the decision.

Previous Applicants
We will accept an application only once each year and you can have only one grant at a time from us.
Current grant-holders may make a new application when their grant is coming to an end.
If we refused your last application you must wait a year before applying again.

The application form and guidelines can be downloaded from this website or obtained from our administrator.  Phone or email if you prefer to receive a pack by post.    Electronic forms are available in Word (for those who like to fill in forms on a computer) and in pdf format (for those who prefer to fill in forms by hand). Use the eligibility check before downloading.  The pack is also available from the administrator in large print.

Eligibility Check

We receive a surprising number of application forms from groups that do not meet our basic eligibility criteria.
About 60% are from charities whose annual expenditure is above our upper limit, 25% are from charities seeking funding to start something new and 10% are from groups that are not registered charities.

It takes time to prepare an application so before you download and complete an application form please answer the following questions -

If you answered yes to all three questions your charity is probably eligible to apply to us but you still need to think about what you are seeking money for -

Uncertain? At times the answer to some of the above questions is not a straightforward yes or no. If so look at the page headed Questions. In there we have answered many of the questions people ask frequently. But if the answer is not there click on email to send your query or phone our administrator on 01484 683403.

Sure you are eligible? Download an application pack by clicking on either of the two versions. The Word version can be saved and filled in on computer then printed, the pdf version has to be printed first then filled in by hand. The application pack begins with guidelines for you to read. The last four pages are the application form.

Finding help with your application

There is plenty of information on a website called FunderFinder which can help you make better applications or find other possible funders.

If you are not very experienced at writing funding applications you might find it helpful to work through a free programme called Apply Yourselves, which is on the FunderFinder website.

If you are struggling to work out what your charity's budget is, you might like to work it out with the help of Budget Yourselves, also on the FunderFinder website.

And if you are not sure whether to apply to the Yapp Charitable Trust or you are having trouble with part of our application form please contact our administrator, Margaret Thompson, who will be happy to advise. Email on info@yappcharitabletrust.org.uk or phone 01484 683403.
